An Italian death/black/thrash metal friend from
London invited me to the W.O.A concert in Germany. (W.O.A is
a Heavy Metal concert which started in 1990 with 800 people
attending. This year 2006, 50 000 metalheads attended.) Death
Metal is not really my cup of tea but I am always open to new
experiences.
So I flew into London and we took his car into
France, across Belgium, through Netherlands and into Germany.
The organization of this concert was almost
flawless. I say almost because as usual at any event there is
inadequate toilets for females, but this is where my complaint
ends.
The food was of superb quality and there was
a wide variety to choose from.
Excellent beer and again a wide variety of drinks.
Prices were excellent. Queues were almost non-existant.
Tons of ambulances and security. Brilliant camping
grounds.
4 stages, 80
bands, beer gardens, markets, stalls, shows, etc, etc,
etc
All of the above in walking distance of the
town Wacken.
All sorts of metal-orientated-people. New, bands
old bands, fast bands semi-slow metal bands. Death metal, Dark
metal, Speed metal and Thrash. Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, True
metal and what ever other Metal.
My congratulations to the W.O.A. team for their
organizational skills and therefore causing me to experience
my best, biggest, loudest and most enjoyable concert ever.
