Formed in the summer
of 1969 as Hawkwind Zoo, they were offered a record
deal by Liberty Records in November of that year and
immediately shortened the band name to Hawkwind. Singer/songwriter/guitarist
Dave Brock has been the only consistent band member
through multiple personnel changes. Their music began
as hard-driving blues rock, but quickly added doses
of psychedelic rock, with prominent use of special
effects and synthesizers.

It was 16 years ago when a friend introduced
me to the Hawkwind experience.
Never in my wildest dreams back then
could I have imagined that one day I would have the
opportunity to see this band live.
Life works in mysterious ways so it
is by no surprise that I received a message from beyond
about the imminent world tour of Hawkwind.
I also received a divine sign from a
stall holder in Amsterdam about the profound greatness
of Hawkwind.
So 6 of us booked our tickets and flew
to Manchester, England and drove to a small town called
Holmfirth.
We entered the pub for pre-concert refreshments
and had and amazing meal.
After a few drinks we left for the small
theater called Picturedome.
The experience was enchanting,
liberating.
A moment of freedom a soul cleansing
experience. I can not describe it in words, but have
a look at the pictures
and decide for yourselves.
