Priest lights Goddess candle.

A feast now begins within circle.

When all agree that it is time the priest sends the inner guard to bring the initiate.

When the inner guard and the initiate approach they are challenged by the outer guard thus:

Outer Guard: "Halt brother! Whom have you there?

As you know only warriors may approach."

Inner Guard: "I have someone who seeks to embark on the great quest of the warrior."

Outer Guard: "How does he hope to achieve success?"

Inner Guard: "With the help of the Great Warrior and All Father and the Guidance of the Warrior Maiden."

Outer Guard: "With such noble and powerful allies he cannot but succeed. Pass brave seeker."

The inner guard leads the initiate within the circle and to the priest.

Priest: "From time immemorial the coming of age has been the most important point in a mans life, for it means that as of this point he embarks like a hero of old on a quest in the labyrinth of life. In this quest many decisions have to be taken which will affect the hero and his companions in life greatly. Therefore these decisions must be taken with wisdom and without fear, because foolish decisions bring disaster and fear brings stagnation and bogs down the quest into the quicksand's of despair. Before you can embark on your quest therefore it is imperative that you should know your fear because to know it is to master it and therefore conquer it.

Go now and do not return to this circle until you can vouch before the Gods that you have seen your fear and you know it.

May Odin protect you and Athena guide you until your return"

The inner guard now leads the initiate to each person in the circle for advice and something to help or protect him on his quest.
