Festival Preparations : Lugnasadh

Altar cloth: Orange or brown.
Candles: Orange in cauldron.
Greenery: Orange flowers, rosemary. Pine. Cypress. Fir. Ivy. Oak, Hazel. Thyme. Rue.
Decorations: Corn. Wheat. Dry Autumn leaves in a bowl. Barley. ALL kinds of bread. Corn Dolly. Orange fruit. Nuts. Rice. Beans Acorns. Seedpods. Hops. Sunflower seed in bowl for planting later. Bowl of chopped fruit. Lion symbol. Fiery wheel snake & dragon symbols. Gilded poppies. Apples.
Incense & oil: Sandalwood. Frankincense. Dried orange peel. Juniper berries. Rosemary Oil, Musk, Pepper, Benzoin & all orange oils.
Lugnasadh tree: Paint a dry branch gold & pot it. Decorate with sun symbols & gold glitter.
Corn wheel is used as a main decoration.

Corn & nut jewellery are worn at this festival & corn crowns may also be worn at this time to honour the
Festive foods are: Stew on rice, Beef or fish barbecue, Spiced chicken dishes. Beans, Corn, all fruit, all nuts & seeds. all types of bread , all salads especially those with cheese & nuts in them.
Cakes & puddings: Banana bread, Datebread, Apple dishes, Trifills, Fruit tarts & nut cookies.
Drinks: Ale. Beer. Cider. Mead. Wine punch with berries or fruit. Fruit juices & herb tea.
Ritual wine / ale: Cider or Ale.

Corn Crowns For Lugnasadh

Use the smaller inner leaves to braid a crown. Tassels may be added to the crown from the tops of corn stalks & the cob itself may be cut into rosettes & these may be added as further decorations. Add orange ribbons.
