Having to go to hospital is a lonely & frightening event, whether one is young or old. But it is never the less o ften a traumatic one since we have to give up control of our lives & put ourselves in the hands of total strangers, who are often to busy to take the time to calm or inform us to what is happening which greatly disturbs & distresses us & thus lowers the immune system, often worry about what is happening at home will aggravate the situation.

If the treatment is a routine one or more complex, it still means separation from loved ones & home, & the stress will often hinder healing. This rite can be done before going to hospital or if it is a child he / she may be brought into the circle & the words adapted so that they speak on behalf of the child. This rite may also be done for someone already in hospital by adapting it. If you are the one going to hospital it is recommended that you also do a ritual to reinforce your household guard ians for the protection of home, family & pets, put your household in order, pay any outstanding bills & make sure your living will & will are signed & up to date, this will insure that you will be able to concentrate on getting well instead of worry ing about home, family & pets.

Green cloth, healing herbs in a bowl, a small piece of green cloth to make a healing putsi, cotton, needle & cord, a pot of live herbs, a crystal.

Healing rune written in green, plus the persons name to be healed on a small piece of paper, which wil l be placed within the putsi along with any healing stones of choice & the herb mixture. Elemental candles, god & goddess symbols & candles[ green] a third green candle for self, use your boline to carve a healing rune on it & anoint with healing oi l during rite, oil, wand, bell, boline, athame, incense & burner, matches, taper, cauldron, pentacle, book of shadows, cakes & ale, crystal cluster on altar. If you are already ill it is best to have someone else help you cast the circle & direct t he energy during the ritual.

Cast the circle, then walk the circle ringing the bell in each quarter.

Do silent call to elements.

Take up the oil & anoint your third eye with a pentacle, then make a healing rune on your body, now take several deep breaths, relax & visualise the oil beginning the healing process, now light the incense & elemental candles, bless the water & salt & say:

Here within this sacred space, my guardians gather near, fire's bright flames protect my right, djinn comes to my aid. At left earth's strength is here, ghob comes to my aid.

Before me air, my vision clears as paralda comes to my aid. Behind me the tides do swell, nixa comes to my aid.

And all around, throughout this sacred space, my lord & lady dwell. Be welcome here powers of earth, air, fire & water, i am grateful for your aid, help me heal & be whole beloved guardians of the quarters.

Sprinkle some water on the altar & light goddess candle & say:

Isis, my mother, place your wings about me now & bring peace to my heart. Be with me both day & night while i am in the hospital, let my mind be filled with calmness, during this time of stress. Allow me to learn from this experience & grow spiritual ly. O' isis infuse me with understanding & calm my random thoughts. Place your hand upon my brow to ease away my pain, allow me to rest so that the healing may begin. Bless your elemental helpers for all the work they do. Beloved goddess guide those who will do the material healing on this plane. Great one i give you honour & love.

Light god candle & say:

Beloved osirus, fill my heart with courage, fill my mind with the will to fight for life, for i fear. Infuse me with strength & protect me & those i love during this difficult time. Help me become strong & healthy once more, for i have work to do. Gu ide me through this rite of passage, great lord i give you honour & love.

Now carve your candle & anoint it, the light it & visualise the light growing brighter & larger, bringing with it new hope & all you have asked for, see yourself glowing with health & going about your daily life with bounce & joy, banish all pain, see the healing taking place & feel the energy rise within you, now salute the goddess & god.

Bless the healing herbs [both live & dried ones] the crystal & stones, take up oil & make the healing rune on the cloth & the paper with its rune on, sit quietly & sew your putsi, the place the paper, herbs & stones into it & replace on the altar & pointing your wand at both putsi & pot of live herbs beloved isis & osirus, infuse these herbs , stones & crystal with light & healing power, allow them to aid the healing process & protect me from all negativity within the hospital & all who come & go.

Now push the crystal deep into the pot of live herbs & sprinkle the herbs with water, take up healing oil & make the healing rune on the side of the pot. Now hold both hands over the pot, palms down just above the tallest herb, take 3 deep breathes & visualize the herbs growing stronger with each day, see them cleaning the air around you on all planes. Silently thank them with love, now lower your hands & say:

Lord, lady, bless my companions & friends, when i return i will plant them as an offering to you in honour of life & love. Lord, lady bless these creatures for their work & all the elemental helpers for theirs, may they be blessed 3 times to the amount due, so mote it be.

Take offerings outside.

The live herbs & green healing putsi will go with you to the hospital. Your loved ones may wish to light your candle for a few minutes each day to aid your recovery. If there is no one to do this for you, the candle may be lit when you return home. Other aids are talismans, sleep pillows & the purple plate which aids healing.
