Rite before hand fasting. [engagement in Christian terms.]
The coven enter & take their places with in circle.
Water rings bell 3 times.

Spokespersons do silent calls, & invoking pentacles & bless their element & take it around circle. [earth sprinkles some salt on to the flower petals & sprinkles them in a circle, air lights incense, fire lights candles, but only takes fire's candle around the circle.]

Priest casts circle.
All dance around the circle.
Sponsor [male] brings girl before the altar.
Priestess strips off robe. [bikini may be worn under robe]
Earth hands out flower petals to all present, each on throws some at the girl, as they once more go round the circle 3 times.
Water rings the bell 3 times.
Priestess takes up oil & while visualising violet blesses the girls crown chakra & says:
Great mother, bless your child for she now moves towards a new phase one of wife & mother.
Priestess now visualising indigo blesses the third eye & says: bless her minds eye that she may think of you & see you more clearly.
Priestess now visualises sky blue & blesses her throat & says: Dear mother bless her throat that she may speak well of you & harm none by her words.
Priestess now visualises green & blesses her heart & says: Bless her heart great one ,& open it to your essence, so that she will know love & radiate it to all.
Priestess now visualises yellow & blesses her solar plexus & says: Bless the centre of her energy force, so that she may grow strong & wise & be a comfort to all.
Priestess now visualises orange & blesses her belly & says: Great mother, bless her womb that creates new life & new ideas in your name.
Priestess visualises red & blesses her pubic area & says: Bless her vagina the gateway of life & pleasure, the portal to the labyrinth which all men seek.

Priestess now makes an equal armed cross on her eyes ,ears, lips & nose &

May you see our great lady in every thing you do.

Priestess blesses her hands & feet & says:

May you walk with the gods & use your hands in their honour.

Priestess now hands them the paper to read from, & they read it out loud.

Bless my hands that I may do your work, bless my feet that I may walk in your Path, bless me mother for I am your child.

Sponsor now replaces her robe & returns her to her place in the circle.

2nd sponsor [female] leads the man to the altar, priest removes robe,[a Swimming costume may be used under the robe]

Priest takes up oil & visualising violet blesses the mans crown & says:

Great mother bless your child for he now moves into a new phase, one of husband & father.

Priest visualises indigo & blesses the third eye & says: Bless his mind's eye that he may think of you & see you more clearly.

Priest visualises sky blue & blesses his throat & says: Dear mother bless his throat that he may speak well of you & harm none.

Priest visualises green & blesses his heart & says: Bless his heart & open it to your essence that he may experience love & radiate it to all.

Priest visualises yellow & blesses solar plexus & says: Bless the centre of his energy force, so that he may grow strong & wise & be filled with power.

Priest visualises orange & blesses his belly & says: Great mother give him understanding & patience in your name to deal with life's ups & downs.

Priest visualises red & blesses pubic area & says: Great one give him virility & fertility of body & mind. Bring him pleasure & safe haven in the storm.

Priest blesses him with water on the eyes, ears. Nose & mouth, & says: May you see her, our great lady in all you see in life. May you hear her in all you say & do, may you hear her name & rejoice in your heart. May you breathe in her essence with every breath you take. May you always speak of her with love. Great goddess, may he take her & his future children to his heart as you have done with him.

May he cling to his family as you cling to our great lord.

Priest blesses his hands & feet with water & says:

May you walk with the gods, all the days of your life,
May you use your hands in their honour, & harm none.

Priest hands him paper to read from out loud.

Bless me mother, bless my body, bless my mind, bless my soul.
Bless these hands that I may do your work,
Bless these feet that I may walk in your path,
Bless me for I am your child.

Sponsor moves forward to help him dress, & return to his place in the circle.

Water rings bell 3 times.

Priest : will..........& .......... Come before the altar now & hold hands,[Priest waits for them to come forward before continuing.]

I call upon our lord, great all father to protect, guide & bless his Children,
Give them courage for what lies ahead for them as a couple,
Lord give them good counsel when in need,
Protect them day & night on all planes,
Be with them in sickness & health, joy & sorrow.
Shower them with blessings, let them never want for any thing they really need to live the wiccan way.

Priest blesses ale, takes a sip & holds it for priestess to drink, then offers it to the couple with these words:

We drink a toast to our lord & lady.

Priestess loosely ties their hands with the cord & says:

You are now bound, there is no road but forward.
Your old life has died, the wheel has turned.
May you always walk hand in hand down life's long road.
When one falters, let the other be their guide.
May you always walk in the footsteps of the wise.
If the gods should bless your coming union,
Then let them bless you too with fertility of mind, wisdom, understanding, & unconditional love.

Cord is removed by priestess.

Priest: are there any betrothal tokens or rings, please exchange them one with the other now.

All clap, cheer & stamp your feet.

Water rings bell 3 times.

Priest addresses the couple: you will now be seated & meditate on the changes in your life, your new name chosen for the god / goddess of your choice who you will at the time of the birth of your first issue dedicate yourself to as a priest or priestess. May they be your strength & power.

Meditation, approx. 3 minutes.

Priest speaks to man:

You are calm, you are interconnected with all life, you are part of the god & will bear his name with pride & honour.
You are renewed, full of vigour & strength.
You are changed, from henceforth you will be known as .........[Any father God] within your pagan family, blessed be ...........

Priestess addresses woman.

You are calm & interconnected with all life, you are part of the goddess & will bear her name with pride & honour.
You will be moving into a new phase, one of matron, you are at the height of your choices, strengths & powers,
Your mother aspect will allow you to experience your creative period, one that may include the initiation of birth, if the gods deem it so.
Henceforth you will be known as ........ [any mother goddess]
Within your wiccan family, blessed be ..........

Both now assume god /goddess positions while visualising the sun / moon.

Priest says please repeat after me to the man:

Come to me & fill me with your shinning light,
Enter me shinning in your fullness o great lord of light, beloved .................[Name of god chosen]

Priestess addresses woman, please repeat after me.

Come to me & fill me with your silver light,
Enter me, shinning in your fullness o great lady of the night sky & earth,
Beloved ..........[Any mother goddess of choice]

The couple now resume their natural stance & return to their places in circle.

Water rings bell 3 times. For cakes & ale.

Priest blesses ale & holds it up, then says:

Blessed are the ways of the lord & lady
Blessed is their bounty to all creatures great & small,
Blessed is our wheel turning year,
Blessed is the spiral of life
Blessed are our desires even now being fulfilled.

Priest takes a sip then offers it to priestess & passes it on to all present.

Priestess blesses cakes & says: blessed be the harvest of our lives,
Blessed be ................ & ..............
Blessed be all present this night,
Blessed be the elementals fair,
Blessed be our lord & lady.

Priestess offers cake to priest, then takes it around circle.

Water rings bell 3 times.

1st guardian :

We give thanks to all present here this night,
We give thanks to the 4 kingdoms of the elemental realms & their rulers & helpers,
We give thanks to our gods for their presence & blessings,
May all go in power & friendship as we end our rite to night.

2nd guardian:

Merry meet, merry part, merry meet again this rite is done.

Fire snuffs candles & says:

So mote it be .

Take offerings outside.

Signing of coven book.

Feast begins.

Setting up altar for this rite.

White cloth, elemental candles, god, goddess candles & images, athame, bell, wand, crystals, bowl of herb water, oil, incense & burner, salt, basket of flowers, cauldron, pentacle, matches, taper, white cord, 2 papers to read from, cakes & ale, flowers & greenery, place large white candle in the cauldron, decorate with ribbons,[ silver & gold] new names, tokens / rings.

Book of shadows, obelisks.

The couple must supply basket decorated with white ribbons & flowers, large white candle for cauldron, runes may be carved on it, it will be anointed with oil before rite.

White cord, 1 metre in length, tokens / rings, new names, silver & gold ribbons, champagne, sugared almonds, & a plate of snacks to share.

Those attending should bring some greenery & flowers from their garden if possible or herbs. Something to eat & drink keeping in mind that the feast is informal, so a cheese, wine / ale, juice, chips, nuts, popcorn, sandwiches, cheese scones, fruit etc is what will be served.
