Honey water, water & salt, incense, matches, taper, oil, cakes & ale, small Gifts from each one present & mothers special gift.[Silver charm on a silver chain.]

The oldest woman present takes the role of crone, if no one present has been Croned.

A ritual bath is prepared for the maiden, she is then dressed in a white robe Or dress & blindfolded & brought to the outer edge of circle, where she waits With guardian.

Priestess. Lights incense & candles [except girls] & blesses them, salt & Water are now blessed & the bell rung 3 times.

Priestess casts circle with wand & the music starts & all dance around circle, clapping hands.

Priestess, does silent call & invocation to goddess & god of maiden's choice.

Maiden is now brought to stand before the altar.

Crone now offers her the lemon juice to drink & then the honey water, then Crone says:

............. [ childs name.] You have come to the gate of womanhood, the gate of the moon goddess to whom you are now bound month by month, her cycle is now your cycle, it is the gift of the promise of life anew.

The bitterness & sweetness on your tongue is to remind you that life holds both bitter & sweet moments & both are necessary for spiritual growth.

They will remind you that sometimes you will do things wrong & have to put Them right, at other times you will know great happiness & joy.

You will learn wisdom by making mistakes & grow with the experience of joy.

Now you enter a new phase of your life, one that will be with you for many Years.

It is not unclean & should not be seen as a curse but as a blessing from the Goddess.

It is the temple of your body working to the cosmic plan of the spiral of life.

Now is the time to leave childhood behind. [blindfold is removed]

Crone now lights the taper from goddess candle & hands it to the maiden who then lights her candle.

All: cheer & clap, throw flowers, petals & rice at her.

Crone:

Welcome maiden! [places crown on her head & ties the cord around her waist.]

You are a child no longer,

You are a woman true,

Cleansed by water, which is ruled by the moon.

Having tasted the bitter & the sweet, You will know both harshness & tenderness in your life

But at all times know that the goddess is always with you as is her lord, she is with you & within you, when the moon summons the blood from your body It is obeying her call, see it as an offering to her.

Crone makes goddess symbol on her forehead with oil & says:

This marks you as having been touched & accepted by the goddess.

The maiden's mother, now moves to the altar & places her gift around the maidens neck, & says:

My child you are a woman now, accept my gift as from one woman to another, Silver is our goddess's metal, wear it well. Blessed be.

Crone: through the cycles of the moon & its great mysteries.

Through the turning of the year & its simple majesty by the will of the great mother of all.

We welcome you................ [ new name] into the greatest of mysteries, Bleed & never empty

Replenish always

From you life ebbs

In you seed grows

Enter her darkened realm, & the world of the mother,

Maiden we salute you & welcome you home.

Ring bell 3 times.

Priestess blesses cakes & ale, then serves the maiden first.

All: welcome........... & the cakes are passed around with the ale.

All: blessed be our mother.

All move forward with gifts, staring in the east & moving deosil.

Crone: may the powers depart in peace, we thank the goddess & god for their presence.

Priestess snuffs candles & says:

Merry meet, merry part, merry meet again, this rite is done.

All dance around the circle widdershins to release, maiden leads the way to her feast.
