Ritual Cleansing - The General Rules - Solitary

 

 

Ritual cleansing is done for many reasons, here are some examples:

Moving to a new home, after an argument has taken place, illness or depression, nightmares or a uneasy feeling in the home, which will cause sleeplessness & a feeling of wanting to flee or one that makes you feel constantly on the alert & unable to relax. These may be due to thought forms, either your own negativity or those being directed against you by others or a genuine haunting, power lines or being situated on a black ley.

Wiccans normally do a ritual cleansing every Ostara / Spring rite as part of their spring cleaning & another after Samhaine & then only when the need arises, as in moving, doing a ritual [Sabbat & Esbat] illness etc.

Banishing Rites are done when they suspect they are under psychic attack, & these are done within Coven.

Step 1.    Physical cleansing of home to remove any substance which can encourage manifestation  of negative vibrations. Empty dustbins & wash them, vacuum carpets & wash them, get rid of vacuum bag. Check your fridge for any leftovers that may be going off & throw out, defrost fridge & wipe down with vanilla essence. Tidy cupboards & wash down if necessary, make sure you have swept floors & washed them, dust books & ornaments. Clean curtains, window sills etc. Make up bed with clean bedding & make sure there is no dirty washing lying around, wash or take to the laundry or dry-cleaners.

Step 2.       Pour salt down each plug hole & the toilet & wipe down with Savlon / Detol etc.

Step 3.       Have a ritual cleansing bath, then place some salt on your tongue & on top of your head.

Step 4.       Set up altar with the following:  Bowl of salt, place in the north, bowl of spring / sea water & place in the west, incense burner & banishing incense, place in the east, black candle in fire proof holder, place in the south. Now add a vase of banishing herbs / trees / flowers, banishing or protective stones or crystals, a branch of Pine, matches, banishing oil, some fresh garlic, your Boline for carving your rune on the candle & your Athame or Wand made of Elder [ or any other wood that is used for banishing.] Cakes & Ale & last but not least your bell.

 

This rite is best done skyclad, cleanse any ritual jewellery, stones or crystals used before rite. Ritually sweep the ritual area with Pine branch.

Ring bell 3 times in each quarter & return to stand before the altar. Take up boline & candle, carve your rune while visualising, then oil the candle & replace it in holder.

Light incense & bless, do banishing pentacle to the East.

Light candle & bless, do banishing pentacle to the South.

Bless water, [if its spring water add a pinch of salt before blessing,] do banishing pentacle to the West.

Bless the salt & do banishing pentacle to the North.

Invocation is now done to the God / Goddess of Choice. [ Crone, Underworld, Fire, War.] & Household guardians are reinforced.

Example: Stand in God / Goddess position.

Beloved Nepthys, O Nebet Het, Dark Lady of mystery,

You are the darkness of the womb

You are the thoughtful silence

You are the stillness of the tomb

You are the starlight at night & the sounds of wings in flight,

You are the crackle of flames that purify

You are the sound of storm that cleanses the Earth

Aid me now, Great One, in my work to banish & cleanse this place & time

Banish all that is not in harmony with those that live within, For I / We Honour Thee, Bring harmony & balance to this dwelling & place your mark here to protect me / us. SO MOTE IT BE.

Reinforce your Household guardians at this point using your own words.

Now address the elements facing their quarter: I charge Thee Element of Air to banish all negativity from this place in the Name of the Triple Goddess & the Horned One. I charge Thee Element of Fire to destroy all negativity from this place in the name of the Triple Goddess & the Horned One.  I charge thee Element of Water to cleanse this place in the name of the Triple Goddess & the Horned God. I charge Thee Element of earth to absorb all negativity within this place, in the name of the Triple Goddess & the Horned One. This is my will, so mote it be.

Stand before the altar & visualise yourself protected by white light that surrounds you & all who live within. Include all family members & animals. Now take up incense & walk it through out the home, open cupboards to allow the incense to reach within. Return to altar & do same with candle, then the water, which will be sprinkled through out, next the salt is sprinkled in each room. Now take the oil & make a pentacle or equal armed cross on each door & window, return to altar, Take up your Boline & peel some garlic cloves, trace protective symbol on  each door ,window & each one present including animals[ if you have fish, trace on the fish tank.] Return to altar & thank all present for their help, Bless cakes & ale, take it outside once your candle has burnt out.

The best time for this rite is when you are alone, if this is not possible make a pentacle & protective circle around each one present, but sleeping, through visualisation. Do rite just before dawn during the dark phase of the moon.
