Creating a magical circle

Every ritual has 3 main parts and they are, the opening that consists of ringing the bell, casting the circle, and dancing around circle to raise power, calling the elemental helpers and invoking the gods.

The second part is the working part of ritual.

The third is the closing which consists of the offering [cakes and ale] and the release of the elemental helpers with thanks, thanking the gods for their presence and power, snuffing the candles, walking or dancing widdershins to release circle and taking the offering out side.

Before ritual we must do the following, cleanse the body, (ritual bath) and still the mind, (breathing, or meditation or relaxation exercises.) Then we take on our magical persona by donning our robes, headbands, magical talismans, jewellery, cords, Crowns etc.

Before rite we follow the following procedure.

  1. We cleanse the ritual area physically, then set up the altar with magical intent by using the correct tools, greenery to aid vibrations, we also use colour, herbs, flowers, stones, crystals, pyramids to amplify the power and symbols such as statues, rocks etc. Obelisks are used to create a physical doorway into ritual area., At this spot a higher plane doorway is cut if some one wishes to leave the circle before the end of the rite.

  2. We create a magical protective circle using will power and visualisation.

  3. We use the bell to create interludes for the mind to adjust to the next stage of rite.

  4. We walk, dance around the circle to raise power within circle, if walking we move 3 or 9 times deosil.

  5. We call upon the elements using their symbols to focus on while we visualise.

  6. We chant or use the correct invocations for the working part of rite to call the god forms, while visualising them, to empower our rite.

  7. We start the working part of rite to channel the energy raised into our desire /spell. Or use this part of rite to meditate, do healing or divination etc.

  8. We give thanks, cakes and ale.

  9. We release all present, those being the elementals, our higher selves and the gods with blessings and thanks for their presence and power.

  10. We release any power left by walking or dancing widdershins around the circle, thus releasing circle and coven / group.

  11. We give offering outside with thanks, leftover ale, cakes, blessed water and incense ash. If fruit is used in ritual this is also given to the elementals who take its essence, and animals, birds and insects eat its physical aspect.

  12. We clear temple area. (Pack away our tools)

  13. We partake of feast to ground ourselves once again.
