MAGICAL USES:
Place mugwort in your shoes to gain strength during long walks, runs or if
you stand for long periods. For this purpose pick mugwort before sunrise
saying:
" Tollam te Artemisa, ne lassus sim in via".
A pillow stuffed with mugwort & slept upon will produce prophetic dreams.
Mugwort is also burned with Sandalwood or Wormwood during scrying rituals & a
mugwort infusion sweetened with honey is drunk before divination.
An infusion is also used to wash crystals, crystal balls & magic mirrors.
When using a crystal ball place mugwort around the base to aid in psychic
workings. Rub mugwort between your hands before handling your divination
tools. Store all tools with mugwort to infuse them with helpful energies,
replace them once a year. Burn to aid all spell work & Banishing rites.
When carrying mugwort you cannot be harmed by poison, wild beasts, another's
spell or sunstroke, according to Ancient Tradition. In a building mugwort
prevents elves & other evil things from entering ,so it is often used in dry
arrangements in the ho me to ward off negetivity & bane. Can also be used in
magical potpourri & placed in any room, hung from a bag in your car or placed
in the work place.
Hang over doors for protection of home, can also be placed in the sick room
during family illnesses. Add to flower arrangements when taking flowers to a
patient in hospital. Mugwort is used in all exorism rites by Christians &
Pagans, in the East it was burnt in Temples to ward off evil spirits.
Grow in your magical garden to honor the Goddess & for protection of house &
garden. This herb will grow in a large pot on a sunny balcony open to the sky
but will not grow in doors.
Mugwort is also used in fertility spells & rituals or carried for this
purpose. It is also used to produce lust, cure disease, prevent madness,
attract fertility, power & strength if carried on the body.

The flowering time is Midsummer, the flowers are tiny button like yellowish
brown. Mugwort is easy to grow from cuttings or root division in Spring. Dry
leaves & flowers for Winter use as the whole plant dies back in Winter to
sprout again each Sprin g.
An infusion is used for menstrual problems.[Scanty menses.] Please make sure
that your patient is not pregnant before using as it can produce premature
birth.It is used during childbirth to bring down the afterbirth, the woman
squats over a steam inf usion & does not take it internally.
Powdered leaves taken in wine is a speedy & certain help for Sciatica.
A teaspoon of powdered leaves is taken in water 3 times a day as a nervine
for convulsions.
Mugwort was used in Ancient times to flavour beer & increase its magical
power before the common use of hops. The old English Mucgwyrt, from midge &
wort a herb, alludes to the plants use as a repellent for insects. Mugwort

Dried mugwort leaves [ Moxa] are made into small cones for use in
moxibustion. The Chinese practice of leaves smouldering on the skin to give
deep penetration of heat & healing for Rheumatism & Artritis.[ ACUPUNCTURE.]
Acupuncture & Moxibustion dates back to the Bronze Age 2000 B.C. E.
Farmers of old used to hang & strew mugwort in grain barns to dispel
beetles & other insects & protect the gathered harvest. This herb is used in
all Harvest Festivals, for it is at this time that it is honoured for all its
varoius aspects. Mugwort is both an antiseptic & a disenfectant & can be
used to clean cuts & wounds.
METHOD OF INFUSION FOR THE FOLLOWING AILMENTS:
Fevers, Nerves, Stress & Tension, Stomach upsets, Hysteria, Poor
digestion, Rheumatism, Artritis, the menopause & menstruel problems.
10g / third of an oz of dried mugwort to half a pint of boiling water.Leave
to stand for 5 min, strain, drink no more than 2 cups per day.[ honey may be
added to infusion.]
