Radiesthesia
& Dowsing
By
F. A. Archdale, Elementary Radiesthesia & The Use Of The Pendulum
There
is no doubt that Radiesthesia, although under another name, was practised
as far back as 2000 years B.C.E. It is claimed that the Hebrews & Egyptians
used it & that the Chinese called for a Radiesthetist before building
a house, so as to detect, as they said, the " Claw of the Dragon"
which we now call the harmful effects of Ley lines. In
modern times it has been used by farmers, water finders, geologists, medical
men, policemen,
research workers, the army & the man in the street.
THE PENDULUM
Pendulums
can be of almost any shape & within reason any size. The thread should be
about 15 inches in length. It is essential that the pendulum be black or a
dull colour, for ordinary purposes it should be of wood or ebonite, in fact
any material that is a non conductor of electricity. Metal & bright
colours are not suitable as they may produce special effects by acting as
"samples " instead of being the medium between the operator &
the "sample."
Hollow
pendulums are used for special purposes, being filled with a small quantity of
the substance sought, such as gold, silver, oil etc. The pendulum by itself
can do nothing, you only have to suspend it from some inanimate object to
prove this; it will remain stationary even if a railway engine is placed under
it, but once it comes into contact with the human hand, a piece of metal the
size of a pin head will bring it to life. The pendulum will do one of four
things:
It
will remain stationary;
Swing
or oscillate;
Gyrate
in a clockwise direction;
Gyrate in an anti-clockwise direction. Under certain conditions it will move in an ellipse
THE OPERATOR
In order to get results Radiesthesia must be approached with enthusiasm & optimism; this being very important because the mental condition of the operator has considerable bearing on the result of his / her experiments. In order to get the fundamental principles of this science you must try to imagine yourself the operator, as a super- sensitive receiving set, as in fact you are. It is common knowledge that the volume of a radio can be increased by holding one end of the aerial. This surely proves that the human body can & does receive waves of energy or radiation's from the ether. Similarly in Radiesthesia you can receive radiation's from outside sources which you instinctively pass on through reflex muscular action to the pendulum, which by its movements, enables you to perceive & measure the external influences you are receiving. The pendulum may be regarded as an amplifier. In view of this, it will be obvious that serious experiments should not be done in a room full of people or where any large electrical appliance may influence your results. Nor should they be undertaken when the operator is unwell, or under the influence of alcohol, however slight or during a thunderstorm when atmospherics are likely to be strong; nor should the operator wear rubber soled shoes, as they act as insulators. The operator should be seated at a wooden table, preferably facing towards the West, with both feet firmly on the floor or ground [ do not cross legs. ] Assuming the operator is right handed, the pendulum should be suspended from the right hand, the twine being held between the thumb & first finger, with the right elbow resting on the table to give stability. The left hand should be on the table & may either be holding or pointing at the subject matter or "sample" as it generally is called. The arms of the operator now resemble a horseshoe magnet, the hands being the positive & negative poles; the stage is now set for operations, but before commencing it is advisable to carry out a self test of your sensitivity.
SENSITIVITY TEST
Stand erect, facing West, relax as much as possible, place the left hand over Solar Plexus, palm inward with fingers closed. Suspend the pendulum from the right hand, using the full length of the twine, so that the pendulum is opposite the centre of the left hand & about 8 inches from it. [ lefties reverse process] The pendulum will commence to gyrate in a clockwise direction. Count the number of gyrations carefully. The degree of sensitivity is indicated by the amount of gyrations, which varies from person to person, & can be divided as follows: 15 - 30 weak, 30 -50 medium, 50 - 100 good, 100 + excellent, with 45- 55 about average. In this connection an interesting experiment can be made which in my opinion, proves beyond any shadow of doubt that the human body is extremely sensitive to outside influences. While you are carrying out a self test, that is to say while the pendulum is still gyrating, let another person lay a hand on your left shoulder, & observe the pendulum carefully. If the second person is sensitively stronger than yourself the gyrations will speed up & increase in number; but if they are weaker, the reverse will take place, the pendulum will slow down. In the case of two people of equal strength there will be no change in the movements of the pendulum.
FINDING YOUR POLARITY
The easiest way is to ask a question [ while holding your pendulum steady] that only you can know the answer. For example, ask the pendulum using your name if that is your name; note the direction, clockwise or anticlockwise, if clockwise you are positively polarised if anti clockwise you are negatively polarised. To check, make sure by asking a question that you know as no.
