Fairytale witchcraft
My wife and I were looking through some websites last night and realized
that Wicca is much more complex than a few years ago. It has expanded
from the Gardnerian so called witchcraft offshoot to a never ending
web of circles and meetings and cults and orders, groups and friends
support centers and covens, a few churches Temples and shrines. All
with different names and different clothes, robes symbols and each one
with a reverend.
All of them telling you what is right and wrong. How to set up your
altar 3 degrees to North or West or what ever.
Bla blab la.
I have a few problems with hierarchical structures. I have a problem
with magick and ritual becoming scientific. I have a problem with the
word reverend and the craft being connected with money.
What happened to the days when a witch was a witch, a high priest/ess
was just that and no one had to pay for knowledge and experience?
Greed and fashion. The desire for recognition and money has taken over
from the simplicity of Witchcraft.
Witchcraft became wicca, wicca everything else.
No reverend will ever be my high priest or priestess.
No money will ever be asked for my knowledge or experience.
Silence could be my only charge.
If it rains from the south my altar will be in the north and vice versa.
Money, fancy clothes and titles do not make magick.
If you can cast a spell and share experience completely naked and without
books I will listen to you.
If you need to hide behind titles and robes and fancy names, have a
look at yourself.
Witchcraft is from within and you will find truth and power in its
simplicity.
Blessed be
Harlequin.
