A Rattle making workshop

The shaking
of a rattle has great significance. It symbolizes the vibratory movement of
the cosmic forces that expand in all directions. The rattling sound gently
relaxes the mind and slows the brain pattern, so removing the barrier perception
of the material world and expands the mind into realms of spiritual realities.
In other words, it serves as a bridge between the worlds which is why a rattle
is of such comfort to a baby.

Facilitated by
Shamanic Healer David Standing Deer

David Bagnall ( Standing Deer )
Medicine pipe carrier
A praying mantis lands on his head. Makhosi, he says, acknowledging the
presence of spirit, and allows it to explore his hair before it flies away.
So it is with David Standing Deer, a quietly spoken man with a gentle
energy and a deep connection to nature and the way it speaks to us.
When you spend time with David you feel his earthed spirituality, and
although words like urban shaman and medicine man come to mind, David
prefers to call himself the more humble "shamanic teacher".
David's walk now is dedicated to shearing with others the many skills and
teachings he's discovered through his own quest to know himself his ancestors and the
earth. His strong creative energy underpins much of what he does.
Indeed, his way is the way of action: through doing you experience spirit, he says.
David started walking his present path about 14 years ago when he awakened to his inward journey, since then he has lived in the understanding that we are all connected. This belief has allowed him to open his heart to all of life’s beauty. (A journey of self discovery)
David has had the privilege to walk and listen to the guidance of medicine people connected to many different cultural disciplines, bringing him to believe that we are one people. David has been trained in the art of the purification Sweat Lodge and other Shamanic healing Ceremony’s by Native American Medicine men. And fore the last 9 years has diligently facilitated these ceremony with respect fore their origins and their powerful healing
While David has had many teachers, he ultimately is guided by his Ancestors
although unique, he is quick to honor the many diverse people who have
crossed his path and shared their experiences, ideas and ways of living.
David is very clear that his (Lakota) Native American ancestry, which has
played a large part in his spiritual explorations, is only part of how he is. I am of the earth, Mother Earth is my home, and I belong to the Human race the two legged. I am of but one color, Red for this is the color of our blood, the blood of our brothers, sisters, Grandfathers and Grandmothers.
We are all part of the gait web of life and all around in nature is everything we need.
As a people we must remember how to walk gently on Mother Earth agene.
"As a race we've lost the way, gone off the path. We've lost the knowing of how it feels to really Love Mother Earth as awe ancestors did in the beginning. And so it's important to journey inwards.” The greatest journey the human race undertakes is the journey into its own heart. We have spaceships and submarines and yet we still haven't started
the journey to the heart of ourselves.
Sharing time with David Standing Deer is a gift. Walking alongside him will
take you to those places, within and without, which feed your connection to
the Great Mystery and Mother Earth. Makhosi
